Mawlana's Farewell Suhba in DamascusAl-Hamdu lillah, the first Jumu`a of this year's month of Ramadan 1426 / 7 October 2005 in Damascus brought great blessings, among them the visit of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim for Salat in the Maqam Jami` of Mawlana Shaykh `Abd Allah al-Daghistani in Qasyoun, after which he gave a brief blessed talk in Arabic, full of light and power. Then he led the Khatm al-Khwajagan. Then, after a short rest in the house of Mawlana Shaykh `Abd Allah, he visited his own old house and was whisked away for Iftar. The following morning (today Saturday) Mawlana left for Cyprus via Beirut after praying Salat al-Fajr. May Allah Most high bring him safely home and lavish on him the blessings and rewards of his travels and us with him, here and hereafter!
Mawlana said in his Suhba:Ibrahim Atham --one of the greatest sufi sheikhs, may Allah bless their secrets-- loved to hunt. One day, during his hunt, he heard from one side of the woods a voice saying: 'Were you created for this, Ibrahim?' From the other side another voice said: 'Or were you commanded to do this, Ibrahim?' Immediately he caught himself. This is enough teaching for those who heed. There is no need for books after that. So he quit his sultanate and turned to his Lord. Our sultanate consists in our servanthood. Our sultanate comes from the Lord of the worlds alone. The quitting of an atom of disobedience to Allah is better than the worship of the two worlds of Jinn and Ins/mankind. People go to pilgrimage then, in their airplane, look up to the stewardess. One look and the reward is gone and Hajj is gone. Are you [Arab airlines] Muslims? Why do you not put male stewards in charge of this trip instead of the Maa'ilaat Kaasiyaat `Aariyaat? ['Swaying-headed females, dressed and nude at the same time'- Hadith]. Disbelievers. Each one of the Budala -another plural name for Abdal, the 'Substitute-Saints'- possesses three hundred powers; if he were to use but one of them, he could make Europe strike America and America strike Russia. They speak of the 'atom bomb'. Is the atom bomb better or man, whom God created and dressed with the secret of His Qudra/power?Servants of Allah, come back to the Sacred Law of Allah. O Arabs, you are the head and we -non-Arabs- are but feet, following you. The nations are many, but Allah gave you alone this honor. We hear every Juma: O servants of Allah! (And hold fast, all of you together, to the rope of Allah, and do not separate)! Do our Arab brethren understand? We hear 'Do not separate!' but they hear 'Separate!' Worse, they are like competing roosters; each one wants his own dunghill. (The life of the world is but a sport and a pastime). Is this Turkish? [People answer: "No, Arabic!" Mawlana says:] Ma sha' Allah, your Arabic is good!Where to go? To the Messenger, upon him blessings and peace. But if we go there to greet him and invoke blessings on him, they will hurl accusations of shirk and bidat/heresy at us. Did we invent the discourse of invoking blessings and giving greetings from our heads? Or is it from your own tongue and in your own speech, O Arabs? And now it has become forbidden??O our Lord, send us what You have promised, and Your promise is ever true! {Allah has promised such of you as believe and do good works that He will surely make them to succeed (the present rulers) in the earth even as He caused those who were before them to succeed others}. He mentioned 'succession'/khilafa twice, with heavy emphasis (lanastakhlifannahum - istakhlafa). {And that He will surely establish for them their religion which He has approved for them, and will give them in exchange safety after their fear}! This is from the glorious Qur'an. They say: O Shaykh, do not say this. They say: A senile Shaykh. No! I know fully whereof I speak.May Allah forgive us. We are excused, O our Lord. Grant us mercy, grant our weakness mercy. O Most Generous One, O Owner of munificence and nobility! For the honor of the noble Prophet, change our state to the best state. Grant us sincerity. Officialism removes sincerity. We live in a time where nothing remains of Islam but its name, nothing remains of religion but its form. O Most Merciful of the merciful! By the sanctity of the Beloved. By the sanctity of Fatiha. O my Master, bear witness!--A..
